How To Slow Down The Wear And Tear Of Lifting Equipment Caused By Steel Wire Ropes?

Feb 13, 2024

From the composition of the lifting equipment in lifting operations, the two ends of the steel wire rope are on the traction hook. During frequent lifting, the steel wire rope may intensify the wear and tear on the vertical dangerous section of the lifting hook, especially on construction sites with high load and poor road conditions. The lifting equipment is prone to more severe wear and tear by the steel wire rope. So, is there any way to slow down the severe wear and tear of lifting slings by steel wire ropes in daily applications?
1. Take a steel wire rope with a length of about 4.2 meters, wrap it in a shape, and use rope clamps at both ends to secure it firmly, so that the contact between the hook and the steel wire rope can be reduced from one to three. By increasing the contact area between the hook and the steel wire rope, the wear between the two is reduced, effectively extending the service life of the hook and the steel wire rope.
2. By fitting the steel wire rope with a steel pipe, the steel pipe is in contact with the surface of the lifting fixture, while the steel wire rope is not directly in contact with the hook, thereby protecting the hook and steel wire rope from severe wear and tear.
3. With the continuous improvement of China's technological level, in the future, lifting machinery enterprises can develop materials with higher quality than steel wire rope to replace steel wire rope, thereby providing good protection.
The above three points are effective ways to reduce and prevent wear and tear. Pu Tai suggests that operators, in order to ensure safety, regularly inspect the degree of wear and tear on hooks, slings, wire ropes, etc. Once they meet the scrapping standards, they should be replaced in a timely manner.
